Winchester Travel Health
is a busy, independent medical clinic specialising in vaccinations and health advice located in the historic city of Winchester, Hampshire. Since its opening in May 2005, the clinic has been offering specialist advice on the prevention of acquiring an illness while travelling. Vaccinations may be required or advised for certain overseas travel and the clinic stocks a wide range of inoculations.
Many people are nervous about having vaccinations but Dr. Matthew Dryden (Medical Director) and his qualified team aim to put all clients at ease and make their consultation a professional and enjoyable experience. The clinic is managed on a daily basis by Joanna Lowry RN, DTN. She is an experienced Travel Nurse Specialist and travelhealthpro associate trainer who has travelled and worked abroad extensively.
Drive up Service; Drive down Costs
In early 2012, in an effort to increase client service levels and to improve the Clinic’s operational efficiency, Joanna decided to start using the Inca Clinic specialist web software application for travel clinics. “We had been looking for patient management system that really understand how Travel Clinic’s operated and Inca Clinic ticked all the boxes. We could see immediately that the new Inca Clinic system would help us deliver a better service to our clients with patient records that allowed us to properly record travel itineraries and create and manage even the most complicated vaccine schedules in a quick and easy fashion. ” says Joanna. “But we also benefited from the way Inca Clinic automatically adds administered vaccines to the patient’s invoice so protecting revenue. With 10 staff I need to ensure information is properly audited and can could be easily reviewed.”
When the inspector came calling
The clinic has recently had its first CQC inspection since the new system was installed. “The inspector was impressed by the travelhealthpro report and our ability to do the annual returns automatically and the improved efficiency and accuracy in national statistical returns. This is a huge time saving benefit for us and potentially for other clinics/healthcare professionals “. According to Joanna “They also liked the comprehensive audit trail of patient report print outs. The inspector asked a lot about how we documented records and how we gathered and recorded consent information for each individual each time. She particularly liked the pregnancy check for each clinic visit.” Inca clinic is reference positively in the report, see the report in full.
Bottom Line Results
Joanna is convinced that the system pays for itself in a matter of months through a combination of increased revenues/profits and reductions in administration costs. “Our experience has been excellent and we have no hesitation in recommending the Inca Clinic system to other travel clinics” she says.
